Rules
What is it?
This six-week challenge is designed to promote wellness among students and staff at Antioch. Why? Because we care about you! And because we know this is about the time of year when many of us start to feel the winter blues and need a little extra oomph to get us through the day.
Throughout the challenge, we’ll focus on leading a balanced life by completing activities in these five areas:
Who is eligible?
The entire school community is invited to participate in the Sequoit Wellness Challenge. This year, students and staff members can choose to register individually or as a team. Teams can be comprised of students or staff members. The maximum number of members on a team will be two.
When can I sign up?
The sign-up period will occur from January 27 - February 2. Register your two-person team or sign up as an individual. Don’t forget to come up with a clever team name!
Points and Scoring
Participants will individually earn daily points toward their team total. Here’s how:
• Completion of any activity in the five areas of wellness is worth 1 point.
• A maximum of 1 point in each wellness category can be achieved in a day.
A good rule of thumb is that your task should take about 20-30 minutes to complete in order to earn a point for it.
You may earn points for participating in sports/extracurricular activities, but you may NOT earn points for completing tasks that you have to do for school or work (example: You may not earn an intellectual point for reading a book you have to read for English class or you may not earn a physical point for attending PE.).
In addition to the 35 points you can earn each week by completing daily wellness activities, participants will have a chance to earn bonus points by completing extra activities throughout the challenge. They are subject to change so be checking your email and Twitter for updates!
We’re relying on the honor system for this challenge, so you will be responsible for—and trusted with—keeping track of your own points.
Weekly Reporting
Each participant will be required to record their own points online on a weekly basis. Here's a scorecard template to help you keep track of your daily points, if you'd like to use it.
Scorecards must be submitted no later than 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays to count toward the previous week’s total. Once a week, an email will be sent with updated team point totals and official challenge standings. Scorecards that are submitted late will not be counted. No exceptions. If you have difficulty filling out the form, please contact Ms. Morales at [email protected] prior to the deadline.
Tiebreaker
In the event of a tie, the amount of bonus points earned will be the first tiebreaker. The individual/team that has earned the greatest amount of bonus points during the challenge will be deemed the winner. Should a tie still exist, a coin toss will be held to determine winners.
Milestones and Incentives
Each week, you will have the opportunity to win prizes. Due to the generous donations received, we have created various prize packages that will be raffled off every week. These prize packages will be displayed in the ILC glass case. Here's how you can earn raffle tickets.
These gifts will be your reward for hard work and also bragging rights around school!
Grand Prizes
Students and staff members who have the top three point totals in both the individual and team categories are eligible to receive a grand prize. Prizes will be awarded according to the number of points earned. So....The first place individuals and teams will get the opportunity to pick first. Then, the individuals/teams in second place will get to pick their prize next. The third place individuals/teams will receive the third prize.
New this year!!!! Thanks to a special donator, one Fitbit will be raffled off among the first place individual/team for both students and staff.
